"The Bedrock
of Acceptance" is a very concise and to the point tool that
helps the therapist help their clients as they move through
the recovery process. 20 years of Shane M. Jones'
experience is packed into this book, with information that
will help the client aquire an understanding of the effects
childhood trauma and deprivation has on them (15 common
characteristics of those from trauma and/or
deprivation). This understanding helps the individual
understand that they are not alone, and there is hope for them
to have a much healthier fuller life. The manual is not
just, as Shane Jones says himself, "a
self-identification-book", it truly is a "self-help"
book. Mr. Jones does clarify through out the book that
the best results are attained if the person is working with a
professional counselor, so it is not a "replacement" for the
therapy process, but a resource. The book walks
through the recovery process with helpful assignments, and
information that the therapist and client utilize. The
"six steps of recovery" lay out the process that one must go
through in recovery, and the techniques explained in the book
give "meat" to what the client needs to accomplish in order to
experience true recovery, and not just "put on the look of
recovery".
Many clients, and therapist
have already experienced the benefits of "The Bedrock of
Acceptance" book, you will not be disappointed. Concise
(44 pages), easy to read, not filled with over overwhelming
technical jargon, a "hearty", yet enjoyable
read.
